How to Make Caramelized Bacon & Dates with Whipped Goat cheese

The best part about this recipe… is that it’s so easy! We all know that one of the best parts about the holidays is the appetizers but we want them to be easy and quick so we can avoid stress.

step 1:

Add the bacon, dates, walnuts, maple syrup, brown sugar, and seasonings on to a prepared baking sheet and mix well so they are fully coated. Place in the oven to bake for 10-12 minutes, becoming caramelized and gooey.

step 2:

In a food processor add the goat cheese, cream cheese, and honey, whipping for 1-2 minutes and fully combined. You can also add a little bit of truffle oil if you are using regular goat cheese (or you can omit the truffle completely!).

step 3:

Now for the easy part! Add the cheese mixture to a bowl or plate, topping with the bacon, date, and walnuts, then adding rosemary, dried parsley. Serve with bread or crackers!

Tips for bacon & dates with goat cheese

  • Goat cheese: you don’t have to use truffled goat cheese if you don’t like the truffle flavor! That can be omitted completely and still be absolutely delicious.
  • More bacon: you can add more bacon if you want! Be aware of the saltiness of the bacon along with the saltiness of the cheese. Add a little more sugar to the baking sheet if you are adding more bacon.
  • How to serve: this is best with toasted bread! The softness of the dip with the crunchy texture of toasted bread is a great combination. But it’s great with crackers as well!
